  1. I have been dying to try out the Giovanni products! My natural journey has been a great one thus far. I did my BC on April 21, 2011, and my last relaxer was Feb. 2011. The hardest thing for me, is finding products that work as well for my hair in the winter, as did the summer things. I really like the Shea Moisture coconut & hibiscus line, and Jane Carter Solutions shampoo and conditioner. I recently discovered Camille Rose Naturals- Almond Jai Twisting Butter, good lawd, that stuff is the truth! It makes my twist-out fro just a curly-kinky love muffin!! :-) I recently purchased a stand up salon hair steamer, and let me say, that has greatly helped my coarse, 3c/4abc hair. My hair isn't very porous, so most products end up just sitting on top of my thick hair. But, the steamer is helping get my porosity in balance. I'm loving my natural experience!

  2. My biggest set back with my natural I would have to say was learning to love my hair. Don't get me wrong I absolutely adore my hair but it wasnt also this way. Back in '09 when I had to BC I cried for days on end until one day a friend told me I was even more beautiful with my natural hair. Even with those encouraging words I still was never happy with my hair I thought natural styles were "old and limiting". While browsing the internet I came across the natural hair community on You-tube and blogs which encouraged me and helped me to love my hair the way I do today. My biggest accomplishment I would say was inspiring 8 persons (friends and family) to transition - (I was an inspiration!!) ...For 2012 I hope to continue treating my hair the way I should and loving me-Naturally!!

    God bless ^_^

  3. Hmmm...I must say my biggest setback was BREAKAGE!..I could not understand why my hair was breaking off so bad in my beginning stages...until I started looking at youtube and taking advice from fellow naturals i FINALLY learned how to take care of my hair. Now my hair is almost bra strap length..which is my biggest TRIUMPH!!.. :)...My goal for 2012 is to not only have healthy hair but to just be HEALTHY!...that's it!...

  4. My biggest setback last year was hitting a plateau with my hair. Once the fall/winter weather set in I felt as if it wasn't growing any more and lost some of its shine. So right now I'm trying to figure out the best regimen for winter hair care.

My biggest triumph is the thickness of my hair. Even though I feel like growth and retention are a problem right now my hair is very thick and I
    love my big afro.

My goal for 2012 is learn how to care for my hair properly, especially in the cold weather. I want to retain length and get some of that shine back. I've heard great things about Giovanni products so hopefully I win and I can start with that :-)

  5. I'm super excited to enter this giveaway because I am always in search to try new products. Here goes...

My biggest setback/struggle is finding new styles. I've pretty much been wearing the same style since I became natural... two-strand twist with some flat twists up one side. I may opt for no flat twists and add a headband for some glam. At any rate, I'm kind of bored with the same old same old. Last summer, I added a side twist ponytail to the repertoire, but that's the extent of my styling knowledge. I've been on a lot of hair blogs in search of cute styles, and have attempted a few, but they never turn out as cute. I guess my goal for 2012 is to not give up so easily on the new styles and keep practicing until I perfect them.

My greatest triumph has definitely been restoring the length of my hair before my big chop four years ago. When my hair was relaxed, it was really long, but severely heat damaged. This was my primary reason for going natural. However, I had long hair my entire life, and doing the big chop took me a while (I was transitioning with microbraids). Comments from my mother didn't make the process any better. She was convinced I wouldn't find a job, a man, or inner peace with "that nappy hair on your head." I know... she's a hotmess.com.

My most recent blow out was December 10, 2011. Pre-trim, my hair was mid back, just below the bra strap. I trimmed a good two inches off though, so it's now just above the bra strap. I'm always amazed at how long it is, and people's reaction... as if my naturally curly hair isn't as beautiful as my naturally straight hair. But I can't harp on other people's issues with standards of beauty. I'm just glad that I've restored my hair, and it's healthier than its ever been in my 30 years of life!
